As an early birthday present my sister bought me all these awesome skeins of yarn. Among them were a few off white and chocolate brown alpaca wool skeins--soooo pretty and sooo soft. I decided I would use them to make a baby blanket for Julian. However, since I had no experience with babies, I made the blanket waaaaaaaay bigger than it needed to be. I probably COULD have made a blanket with what my sister gave me had a known then how small baby blankets actually are, but with the dimensions I made it there was no way that was happening unless I was planning to make a throw (and buy way more yarn). (That was totally a run-on sentence, but whatever) So, warm cozy winter scarf for me it was.
This didn't actually take me long to finish at all (which makes it another cheater project I guess haha) because I had already done quite a bit. All I really needed to do was add a couple more rows of the pretty shell stitching.
The shell stitch is by far the prettiest stitch I've learned so far, by the way. I can't wait to learn some more :) I don't usually spend a lot of time learning stitches because when I'm crocheting I'm usually making toys. Buuut I'm planning on making more bags and stuff in the future so I really need to expand my horizons, huh?
Overall! I'm psyched for cooler weather just so I can rock this. As for Julian...he might not have a baby blanket but I'm sure he'll enjoy nuzzling next to this while breastfeeding. <3
